MCCPA Covered Bridge Cruise Tour
On Sunday October 29, MCCPA held the Annual Covered Bridge Tour. As with most of our 2017 events, it was a wet day, but the rain brought out the bright colors. The 2017 Covered Bridge Tour was dedicated to Dennis Fanale. Dennis passed away Sunday, August 13th at the age of 65. Denny was a long time member and past Vice President of the Mustang Club of Central PA. A little known fact is that Denny was the guy who came up with the idea for the Covered Bridge Cruise. He approached Mike Cole with the idea in the summer of 2008 and asked him to devise a route since Mike lives in Lancaster County, and was more familiar with the area and a Cruise was born.
The Tour starts at the Oregon Dairy, the nice folks from the Oregon Dairy let us use a covered patio for registration. The Registration was run by Deb, Deb and Deb. Special thanks to Deb VanSickle whom also ran the Covered Bridge online registration. Erin and Charlie made it up from South Carolina. Mike gives final instructions
Look at the pretty clean cars, they might not look as good after the Tour, on a rainy day with wet leaves and um Horse exhaust…
It is go time! To easy traffic, the tour is broken in to two groups, Stan ran the Pink group and Mike handled the Green group. Doug and Chuck directed the cars out of the rest stops.
On with the Tour, even with the weather, it was a beautiful drive.
The camera crew of Scott, Fred and Mary Kay staged the pictures of the cars coming through the Cover Bridge and managed the traffic.
I think I hear the cars coming…
We are out of here, off to the next Covered Bridge.
We all arrive at our last final destination of Hershey Farms restaurant. MCCPA members gather for the traditional group photo with Abe. Then in for a great meal….check out the chocolate tower!
